It took four playoff holes played in 1-under par for Hideki Matsuyama to dispatch of Rickie Fowler and win the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Super Bowl Sunday. The 23-year-old Japanese star clinched his victory with a routine two-putt par on the 17th green following a Fowler par putt miss. The win was Matsuyama’s second on the PGA Tour and first since the 2014 Memorial Tournament.
Harris English finished in solo third place at 12-under par. 54-hole leader Danny Lee was fourth and Boo Weekley was fifth.
