James Heath Makes an Ace, Wins 2015 BMW i8

It was a pretty good week for people making holes-in-one around the world of professional golf. First, you had Peter Hanson making an ace at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional, winning a year’s worth of mortgage payments for one lucky fan. And then you had James Heath making an ace in the BMW International Open, winning himself a brand-new BMW i8:

“Do you want my honest fashion or not,” Heath said with a laugh. “I was maybe aiming about four yards left of the flag because, obviously, the water on the right. But no, my bad shot is a push-cut so I’m thinking, alright, aim a little bit left, hit a little push-cut, and I thought, hold on a minute, this is actually looking good […] It just pitched passed the flag and spun back in.”

For his efforts, Heath won a 2015 BMW i8, a car the company calls, “an icon of progress — an extraordinary evolution of The Ultimate Driving Machine.”

On top of being super fast, going from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, the car is also a plug-in hybrid that “combines the power of a 3-cylinder Turbo engine and the efficiency of an all-electric motor for an exhilarating driving experience.”

“I couldn’t believe it,” Heath said. “I mean, I haven’t seen my reaction, I just looked at my caddie Rich who, obviously, gave me a great club and a great yardage. And we were just overjoyed.”

Obviously, it’s not every day you make a hole-in-one and it’s usually not any day that you win a $135,700 sports car.

“I still can’t believe it. Yeah, just one of those moments where you’re actually pretty speechless. It triples — more than triples the highest check I’ve ever made,” Heath said. “It’s unbelievable.”
