Kuchar Co-Leads Memorial With DJ, Day Lurking

The Memorial Tournament wouldn’t be the Memorial Tournament without a weather delay. Saturday’s round ended up being the 41st round in 41 years of Jack’s event to be suspended due to inclement weather. With just eight players out on the course when the weather rolled in, those eight had to finish at dusk to get 54 holes of play in.

When the rain cleared and the scorecards were signed, Matt Kuchar was joined atop the leaderboard by Gary Woodland and William McGirt. McGirt shot on of the rounds of the day — 8-under par 64 — to get into contention, while Kuchar and Woodland kept it between the lines shooting 70 and 69, respectively.

Dustin Johnson leads the group at 13-under par and one shot back. Jason Day is at 11-under par after a closing double bogey took him out of one of the last groups for Sunday. Phil Mickelson is a 10-under par and Rory McIlroy is a 9-under. There are 29 players within five shots of the lead heading into Sunday.

The threat of more weather has moved up the final round tee times to threesomes going off of both Nos. 1 and 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Kuchar, Woodland and McGirt tee off two hours later at 10:30 a.m.
