More than any other event on the calendar, the Open Championship is the one that is most affected by weather year in and year out. Forecasts can give you some indication who will get a break, but when those forecasts miss, you end up with a clear-cut advantageous side of the draw.
Phil Mickelson headlines that good side of things — the late/early wave — as do top contenders Henrik Stenson, Keegan Bradley, Soren Kjeldsen and Sergio Garcia. Royal Troon has played as two completely different golf courses for the two halves of the field and now that we’re to the weekend, things will even out for those near the top of the leaderboard.
