Finally, a round of PGA Tour golf that wasn’t interrupted by weather.
The first round of the Wells Fargo Championship from the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte featured pristine conditions and some low numbers. Steve Wheatcroft and Andrew Loupe, playing partners for the first two days, fired matching opening-round 65s to lead the way at 7-under par. Anirban Lahiri fired a 6-under par 66 to sit in third place alone.
Further down the board, some big names are lurking, headed up by Phil Mickelson who shot a 3-under par 69 to keep the leaders within sight. Mickelson has made the cut all 12 times he’s played Quail Hollow, finishing inside the top-10 seven of those times. He’s never won in Charlotte.
Phil talks course conditions, and how they will change & play a factor as the weekend grows closer. https://t.co/eo8wVlXBxB
