Professional golfers have a lot of off the course obligations that go above and beyond the normal Thursday-Sunday rounds that we see. On Monday at Old Palm Golf Club, the Els for Autism Foundation held a pro-am event that is well-attended annually partly due to the quality of the cause and partly due to the popularity of the foundation’s namesake, Ernie Els.
On a bonus 19th hole, players faced a 113-yard par-3 that if holed would earn the foundation a $1 million donation. Rickie Fowler, fresh off of an eighth place finish at the WGC-Cadillac Championship the day before, stepped up in sneakers and with Luke Donald’s club, according to Tim Rosaforte, nailed it.
@RickieFowler jars it on 19th hole at Old Palm. $1mil goes to @ElsForAutism. Ernie carries off Rickie. Liezel sobbing. More on @GolfCentral.
