USGA Hands Out 25 More U.S. Open Exemptions

With the U.S. Open less than a month away, the USGA has announced 25 more exemptions into the tournament, set to take place June 12-15 in Pinehurst, N.C.

The latest exemptions are based on positioning inside the top 60 in the Official World Golf Rankings by May 26, and include former world No.1 Lee Westwood, three-time winner this year Jimmy Walker, “top-5” player Patrick Reed, and stars like Ian Poulter, Jonas Blixt and Harris English, and EurAsia Cup captains Miguel Angel Jimenez and Thongchai Jaidee.

On June 9, the USGA will hand out exemptions to those players who have moved inside the top 60 since May 26, as well as any special exemptions they may be granting. 

The other players getting in this time around were Thomas Bjorn, Jamie Donaldson, Victor Dubuisson, Matthew Every, Stephen Gallacher, Russell Henley, Matt Jones, Chris Kirk, Pablo Larrazabal, Joost Luiten, Francesco Molinari, Ryan Moore, Ryan Palmer, John Senden, Kevin Stadler, Richard Sterne and Brendon Todd.
