Five SwingU Ambassadors Teeing It Up At The United States Amateur This Week

SwingU, the sports technology and media company, would like to congratulate five SwingU Ambassadors — Bryce Lewis, Canon Claycomb, JM Butler, Joe Wilson IV and Nicklaus Sutton — for qualifying for this week’s United States Amateur at Cherry Hills Country Club.

Lewis, a redshirt senior at the University of Tennessee, started using the SwingU App and its proprietary Strokes Gained and stat tracking system in August 2021. He qualified automatically for the U.S. Amateur via the Top 50 points leaders in the World Amateur Golf Ranking as of June 14.

Claycomb, a senior at the University of Alabama, started using the SwingU App in September 2021. He also qualified automatically for the U.S. Amateur via the Top 50 points leaders in the World Amateur Golf Ranking as of June 14.

Butler, a senior at the University of Auburn, started using the SwingU App in November 2021. He also qualified automatically for the U.S. Amateur via the Top 50 points leaders in the World Amateur Golf Ranking as of June 14.

Wilson IV, a sophomore at The Ohio State University, started using the SwingU App in January 2022. He qualified for the U.S. Amateur on July 24, earning medalist honors at the Maineville, Ohio qualifier at TPC River’s Bend.

Sutton, a senior at the University of Houston, started using the SwingU App in September 2021. He qualified for the U.S. Amateur on July 17, finishing second at the Saint Petersburg, Florida qualifier at Vinoy Golf Club.

Last year, SwingU Ambassador Ben Carr made an incredible run at the 2022 U.S. Amateur at Ridgewood Country Club, which resulted in a runner-up finish, earning him an exemption to the 2023 U.S. Open and the 2023 Masters.

Aside from the insight gained from the SwingU App and Statistics platform, each ambassador received a Cherry Hills Course Guide featuring statistical analysis and strategy suggestions from SwingU Chief Data Officer Peter Sanders.

The U.S. Amateur features two rounds of stroke play in which the top 64 will qualify for match play. The single-elimination format will require the champion to navigate six matches to hoist The Havemeyer Trophy.
