SwingU, the golf technology and media company, announced today that Club Pro Guy, Mexican Mini-Tour legend and SwingU Master Faculty Member (Emeritus), has launched the Club Pro Guy app in partnership with SwingU Academies.
With over 150,000 dedicated followers on Instagram and Twitter, Club Pro Guy (CPG) is one of the most influential golf professionals on social media (@ClubProGuy). Unlike most top instructors who never actually played for a living, CPG made more than a dozen cuts on the Mexican Mini-Tour over a 14-year career, including the famed Yucatan Masters and the prestigious Matamoros 4-Ball. Along with his made cuts, CPG also captained Team Mexico in the 1994 Tecate Cup, which lost to Guatemala 24-4. Among his many exploits, CPG is probably best known for his famous 8-hole par streak in 1998, which ended on the 5th hole at Matamoros CC in the nasty 2-hole stretch known as “El Chapo’s Taint.” CPG retired from competitive golf in 2002 due to a lack of status and an STD. He now resides in Kansas City and is a club pro at a semi-private facility.
For $99 per year, the Club Pro Guy app will provide CPG’s students and fans with an #elite and engaging academy-like experience, including a content forum where both students and CPG will share video, stories and interact on everything in golf; a video-on-demand library of CPG’s Learning Center drills, his Thursday Night Men’s League (TNML) press conferences, equipment reviews and documentaries; more personable engagement between CPG and his fans; contests and giveaways; and app subscriber-only merchandise offers. Annual subscribers of the CPG app will receive a special welcome gift of a Matamoros 4-Ball pin flag personalized and autographed by CPG. App subscribers also will receive an exclusive year-round discount of 25% on all CPG merchandise.
CPG’s extensive list of accomplishments both on the course and lesson tee speak for themselves, but many experts believe that his no-holds-barred attitude and disruptive style are what have turned heads around the industry. CPG’s proprietary 7-4-7 Swing Thought System® and his Stack and Jilt™ Short Game Plan have been widely dismissed by the industry’s “so-called” top instructors for more than a decade, despite producing multiple NET club champions. But recent stints as the “official golf instructor to the stars” at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA Tour and course strategy aficionado at the Korn Ferry Tour’s KC Golf Classic have reversed much of the prior skepticism.
