SwingU, the sports technology and media company, would like to congratulate SwingU Versus Collegiate Ambassador Cameron Sisk of Arizona State University for being named September’s Golfer of the Month by both the Ben Hogan Award and Pac-12 Conference. For the month, Sisk posted a 69.50 scoring average over six tournament rounds, a nearly three-shot improvement per round from his scoring average in the spring of 2021.
Sisk started using the SwingU App and its proprietary Versus strokes gained and stat tracking system in August 2021. The results were immediate as Sisk kicked off his senior year at Arizona State by winning the Maridoe Invitational individual title, shooting rounds of 70-66-73. The win was Sisk’s third of his career and first as a SwingU Ambassador.
“Versus is able to give me a reference for where I’m at in each part of my game,” Sisk said. “People think they should work hard on things that they’re not doing well — which they absolutely should — but being really good at the things that make them the best, which SwingU shows you, can really change a player’s game in my opinion. According to strokes gained, I haven’t really done well from the bunkers and I’ve worked really hard on my bunker game, and that’s helped me a lot.”
The trend continued for Sisk just four days later, as he finished runner-up at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational in difficult conditions with a total score of 2-under par 208 (71-69-68).
Most recently, Sisk and the ASU Sun Devils competed this week at the Isleworth Collegiate in Orlando, Florida at the storied Isleworth Country Club. Isleworth has served as a home base to countless Major Championship and Tour winners across the PGA, LPGA and European Tours.
Sisk was in contention yet again, holding the 36-hole lead and ultimately finishing in a tie for 5th place. The ASU Sun Devils secured the team victory by two shots over Illinois and seven shots over third-place Auburn.
For the month of September, Sisk’s SwingU Versus stats showed that he picked up an average of +3.8 strokes per round vs. par approaching the green and +2.0 Strokes Gained: Putting. Sisk also drove the ball above average, picking up just shy of +1.0 stroke per round while his short game was solid on the rare occasion he missed a green in regulation.
At Isleworth, Sisk’s SwingU Versus statistics for the 54-hole event showed continued success approaching the green, picking up +6.3 strokes vs. par over three rounds while his driving was responsible for another +5.8 strokes gained vs. par.
“We’re honored that Cameron has chosen SwingU as his golf statistics and game-improvement app. We strive to be the go-to smartphone platform for elite golfers who want an easy-to-use, all-in-one solution that provides crystal-clear takeaways for their practice planning. If we can even have the smallest impact on Cameron’s tournament performance, that’s awesome to hear,” said Charles Cox, CEO, SwingU.
Sisk and his Arizona State teammates complete their fall schedule October 25th-27th at The East Lake Cup in Atlanta, Georgia. The event features the four mens and womens golf teams that competed in the “final four” of the 2021 National Championship. The event will be televised on Golf Channel.
Since the start of 2021, more than 100 active professional and top-tier collegiate golfers are using the SwingU App and Versus platform to track their strokes gained and game-improvement data.
