SwingU, the sports technology and media company, would like to congratulate SwingU Tour Ambassador Austin Hitt on his playoff victory at the Rolling Red Tour LPGA International Shootout at LPGA International’s Jones Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Hitt, a first-year pro out of the University of North Carolina who started using SwingU in June to track his stats and guide his practice sessions, shot a 7-under par 65 to get into a playoff with University of Alabama alum Davis Shore.
Hitt birdied the second playoff hole to take the title and the $1,500 winner’s check. The win is Hitt’s second win this month, with his biggest professional victory to date coming the first week of October at the West Florida Golf Tour’s Summer Tour Championship.
In the one-day event, Hitt leaned on strong approach play and timely putting to earn the victory. Hitt picked up +4.5 strokes gained vs. par on approach and another +3.5 strokes gained: putting. He made nine birdies during his round, including a run of four straight in the middle of the back nine.
“(SwingU) helped me realize that if I could put the ball in play more, that will correlate to a little better approach play, and also give me a lot better (opportunity to make more) putts,” Hitt said earlier this month.
“SwingU has really helped me to realize what I need to work on. Over time you’re able to see trends. When I first started using the app, I was able to see what I did when I played my best, which I thought was the best feature of it.
Hitt’s victory was the fourth win for SwingU Ambassadors this fall. Arizona State’s Cameron Sisk won the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational in September and UConn’s Caleb Manuel won the UConn Invitational the first week of October.
Next up, Hitt will tee it up in mini-Tour events in the Orlando area as he prepares for PGA Tour Latinoamerica Qualifying School in November.
Since the start of 2021, more than 100 active professional and top-tier collegiate golfers are using the SwingU App and performance data platform to track their strokes gained and game-improvement data.
