World-Renowned Tennis & Sports Science Expert Dr. Mark Kovacs Launches 1-on-1 Training App

SwingU, the golf technology and media company, announced today that Dr. Mark Kovacs, CEO & Director of the Kovacs Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, has launched the Kovacs Institute app in partnership with SwingU Academies.

Kovacs Institute for Sport and Human Performance is a science-based institute focused on elite individuals looking to optimize performance in sport, business and life. Functioning as the “chief performance officer” for its clients, Kovacs Institute focuses on four different types of athletes: elite sport athletes (current / future collegiate or professional athletes); executive athletes (business executives looking to improve their entire physiology, health and performance to perform better in business and life); lifestyle athletes; and tennis athletes.

Known as the go-to performance expert for elite & pro tennis players, Kovacs will provide both recreational and competitive tennis players access to some of the same teaching and training via the Kovacs Institute app. For a monthly or annual subscription plan, subscribers will receive an engaging, academy-like experience, including a content forum where both students and Kovacs will share video, stories and interact on everything in tennis & sports science; a swing locker for filming & saving strokes or movements; a VOD library of drills & lessons; and 1-on-1 personalized lessons, allowing for stroke analysis, prescriptive drills and regular touch points.

A performance physiologist, researcher, professor, author, speaker and coach with an extensive background training and researching elite athletes, Dr. Kovacs directed the Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning and Coaching Education departments for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and was the Director of the Gatorade Sport Science Institute. He serves as the Executive Director of the International Tennis Performance Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

An All-American and NCAA doubles champion in tennis at Auburn University, Dr. Kovacs earned his PhD from the University of Alabama. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Tennis Performance Specialist (CTPS) and Master Tennis Performance Specialist (MTPS) through the iTPA; and he was the youngest-ever recipient of the International Tennis Hall of Fame Educational Merit Award in 2012. He has worked with more than two dozen top professional tennis players including John Isner, Frances Tiafoe, Robby Ginepri, Sloane Stephens, Madison Keys, as well as dozens of NFL, MLB, PGA Tour and soccer professionals.
