We’ve seen this movie before: golfer gets dangerously close to the edge of a water hazard; friend picks up his phone to start recording; internet magic springs through the lens. It’s a tale as old as Facebook.
Swing thoughts should naturally go out the window when facing a difficult shot like the one above. Job number one should be hitting the ball and staying dry. Instead, it looks like the golfer above may have been taking some SxS 101 tips a little too seriously and was working on getting that transition through the ball.
After tiptoeing around the edge of the hazard to find the best footing, he went with the anchor-foot-back approach and made surprisingly good contact with the ball. Of course, we know what happens next: that anchor foot wasn’t quite so anchored and he fell forward, down the small embankment into the water.
He was able to catch himself before getting fully submerged, but the damage had been done. At the very least, we can hope this was towards the end of the round because if not, the long pants and jacket would infer that the weather isn’t very warm and a wet bottom half could cause some problems.
