It’s 1963, Jack Nicklaus is playing the final hole at The Masters on his way to his first green jacket. He hits a three wood just short of the bunker on the left side of the fairway and as he and his caddie are thinking over his next shot, Jack notices a snail going slowly past his ball.
Not wanting to hurt the snail, he gently picks it up and walks over to the trees on the right side of the fairway and flings it into the woods.
It’s now 1986, and Jack is again playing the final hole at Augusta on his way to winning his record 6th green jacket. While he and his caddie are looking over his second shot, he sees a snail by his golf ball.
Jack bends down to pick up the snail and it’s the same one from 23 years ago.
The snail creeps halfway out of its shell, looks at Jack and says, “What was that for?”
