Two old golfers, Henry and Jack, sit on a park bench feeding pigeons and talking about golf. Henry turns to Jack and asks, “Do you think there’s golf in Heaven?”
Jack thinks about it for a minute and replies, “I don’t really know, but let’s make a pact: if I die first, I’ll come back and tell you if there’s golf in Heaven, and if you die first, you’ll do the same.”
They shake on it and sadly, a few months later, poor Henry passes on. Soon afterward, Jack’s in the park feeding pigeons by himself and hears a voice whisper, “Jack… Jack…”
Jack responds, “Henry! Is that you?”
“Yes it is, Jack,” whispers Henry’s ghost.
Jack, still amazed, asks, “So, is there golf in Heaven?”
“Well,” says Henry, “I’ve got some good news and bad news.”
“Give me the good news first,” says Jack.
“Well, there is golf in Heaven,” Henry says.
Jack says, “That’s great! What news could be bad enough to ruin that?”
Henry sighs and whispers, “I got a look at this weekend’s tee sheet, and you and I are slated to play together on Saturday morning.”
