The 2019 World Long Drive season got off to a record-breaking start at the Ak-Chin Smash in the Sun outside of Phoenix, Arizona on April 16th.
With the wind whipping at 20 miles per hour, New Zealand’s Phillis Meti bested Alexis Belton in the women’s final by breaking her own world record.
The defending Ak-Chin Smash in the Sun and Volvik World Long Drive champ Meti beat her own world record by seven yards with a 413-yard bomb on her sixth ball.

What’s even more incredible is that Meti, who plays the Tour Edge Exotics EXS Driver, had already bested her world record on the drive prior.
“It hasn’t really even sunk in,” Meti said, according to GolfChannel.com. “I didn’t even think that was possible. That’s probably the fastest I’ve ever swung it to be honest. Hopefully, I can stay on this path and keep riding the rollercoaster for the rest of the season.”
Meti’s world-record swing clocked in with 127 MPH clubhead speed and a 182 MPH ball speed with a 117-foot height apex.
