When the best players in the world are in full control of their golf games, it is truly something to behold. Spain’s Alvaro Quiros has put himself into that “in the zone” category this week at the European Tour’s Rocco Forte Open in Verdura, Sicily.
Quiros fired opening rounds of 63 and 64 before battling some difficult elements on Saturday. One of just three players to post an under par score, Quiros hit the shot of the day on the par-4 18th hole. At 16-under par and five shots clear of the field, Quiros sent his approach into the home hole miles left of the putting green.
Sitting on a cart path and with a television tower in his way, Quiros showed just how dialed in he was, picking the ball clean off of the tight lie and spinning it to a stop three feet from the cup. He would tap in for an incredible par save and a round of 1-under par 70.
Quiros has won six times on the European Tour, and thanks to shots like the one above, he’s looking to claim No. 7 on Sunday.
