Brooks Koepka Has Meltdown, Snaps Driver

We all know golf can be frustrating, but something about seeing a pro lose it on the golf course makes us selfishly smile. During Friday’s second round of the Honda Classic, Brooks Koepka got off to basically the worst possible start for somebody ranked 21 in the world, let alone a tour pro. During the first hole of the day (he started on the 10th), his drive ended up next to a tree where he thought he could make a clean swing. As it turns out, he didn’t and his club clipped the tree on the way down, shifting it offline to the point that he almost whiffed it. This lead to an opening triple.

But wait there’s more! On the very next hole, he hit driver and was obviously less than pleased with missing two in a row wayward to the right. In utter frustration, Brooks snapped the head of it clean off and carried it like a trophy kill off the tee.

Koepka ended up shooting an eight-over par 78, leading to his third missed cut in four weeks. Interestingly enough, Brooks switched drivers from Nike to TaylorMade, and it appears he may still be adjusting to it.
