Brooks Koepka is back in front of ESPN’s cameras, only this time he is fully clothed and showing off his acting chops as opposed to showing off other… assets.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this week, ESPN released a pair of new “This is Sportscenter” commercials featuring the four-time major champion.
The first video, which was posted on the ESPN Marketing YouTube Channel, features Koepka and Sportscenter host Elle Duncan putting in a ESPN hallway towards a glass on the ground near the vending machines.
As Koepka marks his ball to let Duncan play her shot, fellow Sportscenter host Matt Barie is patting himself down to find some loose change. In a scene straight out of Happy Gilmore, Barie reaches down and takes Koepka’s coin to buy his soda.
In the second commercial, which Koepka shared on his Instagram page, the golfer is in ESPN’s famous cafeteria eating lunch with Duncan and Barie. With someone filling in for Koepka’s normal caddie, Ricky Elliott, Koepka is flummoxed about which way to slice his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
His caddie suggests a diagonal cut, but Koepka seemed uncommitted and messed up the sandwich with what Koepka captioned the video as “the wipe.”
“That’s a bad read,” Koepka says. “Really bad read.”
The commercials are decent but don’t expect Koepka to give up his day job.
