Bubba Mocks Phil With Workout Routine

Tiger Woods’ unlikely triumph reinvigorated the golf world and undoubtedly inspired countless golfers to get out to the course or get in the gym in hopes of bettering themselves — all the while chewing gum, of course.

You can count two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson among that crowd as Watson posted a video on social media in which he noted the inspiration Tiger had on him while managing to slip in a not-so-subtle jab at the affable left-hander.

Taking a cue from Mickelson’s hilarious Magnolia Lane video in which Phil talked about hitting bombs while taking a shot at Matt Kuchar, Watson filmed himself working out in his home gym on Monday.

A @tigerwoods inspired workout this morning… and @philmickelson it’s arms, not calves ?? @pgachampionship #HighBombs #urwelcome

A post shared by Bubba Watson (@bubbawatson) on

“Tiger Woods inspired us all, so I’m in the gym in my house this morning,” Watson said. “And Phil Mickelson… calf workouts? ‘Hey look at me, a calf workout.’ That’s not how you hit high bombs.

“It’s the arms, man. Three-pound weights I’m up to now. PGA Championship. High bombs.”

Given Mickelson’s new-found affinity for social media and oft-proven sharp needle, we can expect to see a rebuttal from Lefty in the next few days.

In the meantime, the pros won’t have much time to make any significant changes to their bodies as PGA Championship week is already less than a month away thanks to the new schedule.
