Butch Harmon: DJ Needs a “Wheelbarrow”

Butch Harmon knows what it takes to be World Number One. After all, he’s one of the greatest swing coaches of all time and has taught the game’s best including the likes of Tiger Woods. However, even the greatest swing in the world is nothing without confidence. It’s the “it” factor, especially under pressure that sets the top players apart. Dustin Johnson is one of those guys and he doesn’t just have it. According to Harmon, he’s got a wheelbarrow full of it.

Appearing on the Vegas Stats & Information Network to preview next week’s U.S. Open at Erin Hills, Harmon was asked about current World No.1 Johnson’s ability to handle pressure…and his response was priceless:

“When Dustin Johnson goes to the first tee he’s got to take his balls in a wheelbarrow; he’s not afraid of anything.”

Can you really blame Harmon for being honest? Besides DJ’s massive lead in the Official World Golf Ranking, three wins in a row this season, and PGA Tour leading 312.4-yard driving average, just check out these recent comments he made in a recent interview with CNN’s Living Golf:

“I can have someone tell me to do stuff all the time every day and if I don’t want to do it, I ain’t gonna do it. It’s got to come from me. Obviously, people give me advice and what I should do, but I’m only going to do what I think I want to do. So, it was just time. I was just fed up with, you know, being good. I thought I could be a lot better.”

Confidence is a beautiful thing.
