The longest drive and the shortest putt all count the same on the scorecard, and that was never more painfully true than on Sunday at the Shaw Charity Classic on the PGA Tour Champions.
Tied with eventual champion Scott McCarron on the 17th hole, Joe Durant stepped up to his short par putt nonchalantly and missed it.
Oh no!
Durant misses a short one at 17 and falls out of a share of the lead. @ShawClassic pic.twitter.com/3IXLGWd2iW

The dropped stroke put him one behind, and following an 18th hole birdie by McCarron, Durant needed an eagle to force a playoff. Instead, Durant could only muster a birdie of his own, falling one agonizing shot short of the title.
The win was McCarron’s second of the season.
