DJ Wins Third PGA Tour Victory Of 2018

Dustin Johnson joined Tiger Woods as the only player since 2009 to win three times on the PGA Tour three years in a row thanks to a three-shot victory at the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Ontario, Canada. DJ also eclipsed Tiger in total victories since 2008 on the PGA Tour.

“Obviously I’m doing something very well,” DJ said after the tournament after being told that he has more victories than Tiger since 2008. “I feel like I’ve been working hard and trying to improve my game and get better and obviously win some more. To even be mentioned in the same sentence as Tiger means a lot. What he’s done for the game — the things he’s done in the game, I don’t think anyone’s ever going to get to that level. The way he played for that 10-year stretch was just incredible.

“Just to be mentioned in the same sentence, I’m very pleased with that.

DJ shot four rounds of 68 or lower to earn him the 19th PGA Tour victory of his career. A five-shot deficit after the first round was erased following second and third round scores of 66 and 65, respectively. Johnson slammed the door with a 6-under par 66 on Sunday to defeat Beyong Hun An and Whee Kim by three strokes.

Johnson birdied all four par-5s during the final round and added three other birdies against just a lone bogey. The win was Johnson’s third of the season, joining trophies earned at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
