CBS Golf analyst and six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo and 2017 Masters Champion Sergio Garcia have a checkered past.
Most notably, following the completion of the 2008 Ryder Cup, of which Faldo captained and Sergio participated en route to a 16½ – 11½ U.S. victory, Faldo said Garcia was “useless” following an 0-2-2 showing.
More than a decade later, the wounds from that European loss at Valhalla still fester. Just a few months ago in Paris, Garcia earned three points in a decisive European victory at Le Golf National to become Europe’s all-time leading points winner.
Sergio Won’t Be Suspended For Serious Breach DQ
Garcia, when asked by Sky Sports what reaching the all-time mark felt like, said, ” This means a lot to me. I have passed some of my heroes today… and Nick Faldo.”
It’s safe to say there isn’t much love lost between two of Europe’s greatest players.

So, given Garcia’s most recent dust-up in Saudi Arabia that included him going nuts in a bunker and then intentionally damaging five greens, for which he was disqualified from the event and roundly criticized, it was only a matter of time before Faldo took his return shot.
It came on Thursday on The Dan Patrick Show. Broadcasting live from the back of Pebble Beach’s driving range, Faldo gave his annual lesson to the members of the show and explained how he uses certain golfers’ names as boons for the shot-shapes he’s trying to hit.
After going through the usual suspects that we hear on the television broadcast of Adam Scott for a fast-arm draw, or Jason Day for a fast-moving mid-section. Similar to 2018 when Faldo did his impression of Rory McIlroy throwing his club into a lake, he took on Sergio this year, breaking down a tee marker and smacking a pile of range balls.
