Greg Norman To Take Elevated Role Within LIV Golf

Greg Norman is moving up the ranks within LIV Golf as the organization announced that Norman is taking an “elevated role” within the administration.

LIV released its schedule this week and will begin tournament play next month.

Also, Majed Al-Sorour will be leaving his role as the Managing Director of LIV Golf, but will continue as one of the seven board members. His role will not be filled, and Norman will assume those responsibilities.

LIV Golf released the following statement about Al-Sourer:

“Majed Al-Sorour has been and will continue to be an invaluable part of LIV Golf, as he continues in his Board of Directors capacity. Majed’s role was pivotal in supporting the launch of LIV Golf,” the statement said.

“As the business transitions into its first full season with a new broadcast partnership in place, the time is right for the Managing Director role to transition and for Majed to focus efforts and attention on other interests. We are grateful for Majed’s hard work, contributions and getting LIV to this new stage.”

It has been a busy January for the upstart league as they prepare for their second season. They announced last week that they signed a TV deal with the CW to broadcast LIV events on their app and channel and also announced their schedule for this season.

The deal is for two years and they will share advertising revenue.

“It was critical for us to get to this point, no question,” Norman said Thursday in an interview with Sports Illustrated. “Our goal was to do that from the outset. To be honest, when you look at our calendar, maybe nine and a half months ago when we decided to London (for the first LIV Golf event), we actually had planned to have two beta seasons. And we have excelled across all aspects of what we wanted to deliver. We have our own production team and showcasing golf in a whole new light.”

“Of course we knew that getting this out on a network was critical for us. But for us to be sitting here with a contract that is signed is really a very, very proud moment for our players and for our sponsors.”Greg Norman To Take Elevated Role Within LIV Golf
