Four days after Tiger Woods told members of the media at the Memorial Tournament that his former swing coach Hank Haney “deserved” the suspension he received from SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, the instructor returned fire on social media.
After staying relatively quiet publicly following the controversial statements made on his show about Korean players on the LPGA Tour ahead of the U.S. Women’s Open, Haney defended his prediction on Sunday, and then took aim at his former student on Tuesday.
Tiger Slams Haney For LPGA Comments
“Amazing how @tigerwoods has become the moral authority on issues pertaining to women,” Haney tweeted Tuesday. “I spent six great years coaching Tiger, and not one time did he ever hear me utter one sexist or racist word. Now, in addition to being a 15 time major champion, I guess he thinks he’s also a mind reader? #glasshouses”

Last Wednesday, Haney came under fire for comments he made about LPGA Tour players and his predictions for a winner at the Country Club of Charleston, host of last week’s U.S. Women’s Open.
“I’m going to predict a Korean (will win),” Haney told co-host Steve Johnson on Hank Haney Golf Radio. “That’s going to be my prediction. I couldn’t name you, like, six players on the LPGA Tour. Maybe I could. Well, I’d go with Lee if I didn’t have to name a first name, I’d get a bunch of them right.”
Haney would subsequently apologize to anyone he offended.
Haney Defends Controversial Comments After Lee6 Victory
Asked about Haney’s comments and suspension, Woods didn’t offer Haney safe passage.
“He deserved it,” Woods said on Friday of Memorial. “Just can’t look at life like that. And he obviously said what he meant, and he got what he deserved.”
Woods and Haney worked together from 2004-2010. After their split, Haney authored The Big Miss in 2012, a book that detailed his time coaching Woods.
