Brian Harman was well on his way to playing the weekend at the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday after playing 35 holes in even par, but he picked up a birdie on his 18th hole of the second round in one of the most unlikely ways imaginable.
The par-4 ninth hole at Colonial Country Club plays 404 yards, relatively short by PGA Tour standards, but the trouble that the surrounds the hole made it the toughest-playing hole on the course on Friday (+0.36).
Harman found the right rough off of the tee, and he was left with 140 yards to a green that is guarded by water on the front and bunkers long left and right.
Instead of taking the conventional route, Harman pulled off one of the craziest shots you’ll ever see, which looked more like something you would see playing a round of Golden Tee than watching a PGA Tour event.
Harman’s ball came flying out of the rough. Despite calls for the ball to sit, it ricocheted off the grandstand behind the green, bounced through the rough and settled two feet from the cup.
Harman was able to pay off the birdie putt, and threw the ball back to the grandstands from which it came. He posted a 1-under par round of 69 to put him in a tie for 21st heading to the weekend in Fort Worth.

Jonas Blixt leads the way at 9-under par through 36 hole thanks to a second-round 64 that has him one shot clear of Kevin Na and Tony Finau.
