Sometimes golf just sucks. Billy Horschel had made a concerted effort to improve his short game heading into 2017. The fruits of his labor saw the 2014 FedEx Cup champion force his way into a five-way playoff this past weekend at the RSM Classic. However, on the first playoff hole, after all five competitors missed their birdie looks, Horschel shoved his par putt, eliminating him from the event.
They say you learn more from losses than wins. I believe it’s true. For me, I didn’t take my time over that short putt. Simple as that.

Did a good job all day of not rushing anything all day. Which is a fault of mine. I will learn from this and come out even better.

In the end, I’m excited where my game is. Put a lot of work in the last few months and starting to see progress! 2017 will be amazing!!

With his self-analysis over, at least Horschel could go home and relax in the build up to Thanksgiving. Or not…
Wish I was still in the playoff but doing the next best thing…..I think. ?Getting wisdom teeth pulled out! ? pic.twitter.com/g0mA10q48a

Tough couple of hours for Billy Ho.
The event did go on, however. Mackenzie Hughes, a rookie from Canada holed a clutch putt from the fringe on the third playoff hole to take down his first PGA Tour victory, outlasting Camilo Villegas, Henrik Norlander and Blayne Barber.
No case of the Mondays here.
