Golf can be a humbling game. Just when you think you’re striking it well and figuring out some of your common mistakes, another issue arises to bring you crashing back down to Earth.
On Friday at the FedEx Cup Playoffs’ Tour Championship, 2013 PGA Champion Jason Dufner was humbled in an unorthodox way. Originally looking as if he may have injured his hamstring, the brutal truth bore itself out before long: Dufner had split his pants at some point during the round.
Already aware of the power of the internet thanks to the viral “Dufnering” phenomenon, Dufner was hesitant to embrace the rip in his pants, clearly uneasy every time he would tap in a putt or put a tee into the ground.

Split pants and all, Dufner managed to make it around East Lake Golf Club in 3-under par 67 on Friday to move him to 5-under for the week and two shots back of the leaders. Justin Thomas, Webb
Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson and Paul Casey all share the 36-hole lead in Atlanta at 7-under par. Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland, Justin Rose and Jon Rahm all sit one shot back at 6-under while 10 other players — including Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth — are within four shots of the lead.
