John Daly claims to have found a cure for COVID-19 in a tongue-in-cheek video posted recently that appears to be meant for members of the Trump Golf organization.
In a video uploaded on April 9 to The Trump Organization YouTube page, Daly recorded a run-of-the-mill morale-boosting video from his home office before suggesting that drinking a bottle of vodka each day would help to kill the coronavirus.
Daly began by saying he hoped everyone was being safe and healthy.
“Hopefully, we’ll get over this thing pretty soon and we’ll be back out playing a lot more golf, and everybody will go back to work,” he said. “I kind of got a cure for this.
“I only drink one drink a day, it just happens to be a bottle of good old Belvedere. Just drink one of these a day. You know, sippy, sippy on a McDonald’s Diet Coke; wash it down pretty good. Never have a hangover.
“And that’s the way you kill this coronavirus I believe. But ya’ll be safe, take care and hopefully, we’ll be getting back to the things we do best pretty soon.”
Daly, 53, has struggled with health problems over the past few seasons, but he managed to compete in all five PGA Tour Champions events so far in 2020, making every cut and posting a season-best T9 finish at the Cologuard Classic last month.
The Champions Tour has seen seven events canceled so far as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, including the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship and the U.S. Senior Open. Two other events have been rescheduled for September.
The over-50 circuit is slated to return to action on July 9 at the Bridgestone Senior Player Championship at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
