Rahm Has Epic Meltdown, Misses U.S. Open Cut

The U.S. Open is as much as a mental test as it is a physical one. One guy who couldn’t handle Erin Hills’ heat, nor fescue, was PGA Tour rookie Jon Rahm. The young Spaniard had a rough (no pun intended) opening round, and it didn’t get any better on Friday when he posted 73 en route to missing the cut. Multiple times the 22-year-old rookie playing in his second U.S Open let his emotions get the best of him leading to throwing a club, kicking a bag, and even tossing a rake.

ESPN’s Kevin Van Valkenburg‏ witnessed the outburst on the par-5 14th hole and decided to document it. Unfortunately, the cameras saw it too.

While he is only 22 years old, he made the decision to turn professional. Maybe it’s time to start acting a little more like one.
