Regardless of the international competition, the United States seems to go as the partnership of Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed goes. And good news for U.S. golf fans, the pair are going well and so is the United States through one day of action, leading the International Team 3½ to 1½.
Captain America and Boy Wonder moved to 6-2-1 in Presidents and Ryder Cups overall with a dominating 5&4 win over Emiliano Grillo and Si Woo Kim in foursomes (alternate shot).
Part of their dominance stems not only from their comfort together but their competitive drive to beat one another even when they’re on the same team.

Spieth and Reed weren’t the only young duo to impress on Day One of the 2017 Presidents Cup; international competition rookie Justin Thomas and mainstay Rickie Fowler dusted Hideki Matsuyama and Charl Schwartzel 6&4 to earn the first point of the competition.
Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar secured the third full point for the American side taking down Adam Scott and Jhonattan Vegas 1 up in a back-and-forth battle that had a little bit of everything.
The lone bright spot for the Internationals on Day One was the fearsome twosome of Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuizen who took down Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger 3&1. The South African duo moves to 5-0-0 in team competitions.
The final match to conclude on Thursday from Liberty National was between Phil Mickelson and Kevin Kisner and Aussies Jason Day and Marc Leishman. A a back-and-forth affair saw the Americans hold a lead through the first half of the day before the Aussies stormed back to take a 1-up lead coming down the stretch. Two closing birdies for the Internationals doomed their hopes of a full point and the match was halved.
The second day of competition kicks off at 11 a.m. on Golf Channel with five matches of fourball (two-man best ball).
