Watch: Justin Rose Struggles at the Beach

If you haven’t noticed by now, golf is hard even for the best players in the world. On Friday at the European Tour’s BMW PGA Championship, not even a gold medal nor a major were able to save Justin Rose from this dreaded hosel rocket.

After finding the fairway bunker with his drive on the par-4 sixth hole at Wentworth, the Englishman hit an iron that he’d like to forget sending it straight right out of bounds. It was so atrocious, the camera man didn’t even have time to pan over before it crossed the boundary. Meanwhile, the reaction in the booth is priceless. Without hesitation, he grabbed another ball, took a drop (it plugged, of course) and hacked it angrily back into the fairway. Rose would go on to make a quadruple bogey, snowman eight.

It wasn’t exactly a pleasant day for Rose at the beach (although it still beats sitting in an office!) This was his adventure to save par on the previous hole.

Rose posted a two-over 74 and sits in a tie for 52nd just barley making the cut. Francesco Molinari, Scott Jamieson, and Thomas Pieters lead the way at seven-under in what is shaping up to be an exciting weekend at the European Tour’s flagship event with some big names like Henrick Stenson lurking just a few shots behind.
