Golf has a way of bringing out the best – or worst – in you. The latter was on full display on Sunday at the WGC-Mexico Championship where 54-hole leader Justin Thomas was struggling to hold it together, literally.
On one particular tee shot, the two-time winner this season appeared to feel like an unfolding lawn chair to the point where the club hit the eject button before he even finished his follow through, sending it flying in the air towards the gallery. Like the stand-up guy he his, Thomas apologized for his action on Twitter following the round.
Yes I’m an emotional player. It’s in my character and always has been, I’ll always have fire in me. Sorry to those offended by my actions

But that didn’t preclude his buddies on the PGA Tour from having a little bit of fun with him. Especially Rory McIlroy, who knows a thing or two about throwing his club.

And Thomas’ response was priceless.
