Kaymer And Longtime Caddie Connelly Split Ways

Two-time major champion Martin Kaymer and Craig Connelly, the man who was on the bag for both of the German’s two major victories, have decided to go their separate ways, bunkered.co.uk reported on Thursday

Kaymer, who won the 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits and the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, as well as 10 other times around the world since 2008 has fallen on hard times as of late. The former World No. 1 has dropped to No. 146 in the Official World Golf Rankings and he’s only finished inside the top-20 three times in 14 starts in 2018.

Connelly and Kaymer spent two different spells together, the first of which resulted in the 2010 PGA victory. In 2011, Kaymer replaced Connelly with Luke Donald’s brother, Christian, only to go back to Connelly a year later.

The partnership spanned the next six years and featured Kaymer’s U.S. Open triumph as well as a Players Championship victory.  This month in Paris will be the first time since 2008 that Kaymer will not participate in the Ryder Cup.
