Jerry Kelly has done a lot right in his career.
The Wisconsin native has been a professional golfer for 30 years now, he’s won 11 times as a pro and he’s made nearly $30 million on the course, but he may have never gotten as lucky as he did on Saturday at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai Golf Course.
Playing the par-5 7th hole, Kelly was 1-under par for his round, 10-under par total and losing ground to eventual winner Tom Lehman when he struck his second shot that seemed destined for trouble.
However, the dried lava — one of the hallmarks of the course — came to his rescue, along with a well-placed cart path.
Kelly, of course, paid off the incredible break with the lengthy eagle putt to move him to 12-under par and three shots back of Lehman.

The three-time PGA Tour Champions winner went on to make two more birdies in his round and finish at 14-under par, three shots behind Lehman, who picked up his 12th victory on the senior circuit.
