The WGC-HSBC Champions was Hideki Matsuyama’s to lose heading into the weekend. The 24-year-old Japanese superstar claimed his third PGA Tour win and became the first Asian player to win a World Golf Championship after a four-round total of 23-under par.

Matsuyama made 29 birdies over his 72 holes to best Henrik Stenson and Daniel Berger by seven strokes. Rory McIlroy finished in a tie for fourth place with Bill Haas.
