European Tour Pro Wins Bizarre-Looking Trophy

There are more professional golf tournaments taking place on a weekly basis than you can imagine, so one avenue for a relatively unknown event to make its way into the mainstream is to set itself apart with its trophy.

The Staysure Tour, the European Tour’s over-50 circuit, was playing its MCB Tour Championship on the African island of Seychelles. Peter Fowler, an Australian Tour pro — no relation to Rickie — won the event by coming from four shots back on the final day to beat South African James Kingston by one stroke.

For his troubles, Fowler won just over $53,000 and was awarded a trophy that was modeled after a rare and native nut of the country.

While the trophy was a well-done replica of the Seychelles’ nut, that didn’t stop fans from commenting on the social media post of Fowler and the trophy, including outspoken European Tour member, Eddie Pepperell.

Other fans had fun with the trophy, which bears a striking resemblance to a certain part of the human anatomy.

Either way, we’re sure Fowler was happy to kiss the trophy and take home the title.
