The Ryder Cup has become one of the most lucrative events every other year not only for the PGA of America, but also the European Tour who will be handling things this year in Paris.
As such, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Tommy Fleetwood and Ian Poulter took advantage of their captain, Thomas Bjorn, earlier this week in hilarious fashion when the foursome piled into a BMW and phoned their leader.
McIlroy handled the majority of the prank as he explained to the Great Dane how a £20,000 cryotherapy chamber could be the secret to European success at Paris in a few weeks.

The crazy part of all of this was how a handful of 62s was plenty to sell Bjorn on getting a cryotherapy chamber. When McIlroy upped the ante and requested one for each of the 12 folks on the team, Bjorn balked a little bit, but it didn’t seem to be completely out of the realm of possibility.
Some back of the envelope math tells us that £20,000 a pop would come out to over a quarter of a million dollars. All for an exhibition.
We’ll have to keep an eye on this development and follow up in Paris in a few weeks to see how refreshed and recovered the European team looks and plays.
