Mini Tour Player Takes U-Haul To Event

Pro golf’s road to the big leagues is long and lonesome. It’s littered with humbling reminders that for as much potential as a player might exhibit, fame and fortune are still miles and miles away. And, in the case of one Korn Ferry Tour pro, you don’t always get to travel those miles in style.

Akshay Bhatia is a 20-year-old pro who you might classify as a social media darling. The way he met his girlfriend-turned-caddie is the stuff of Instagram legend, and he’s previously made headlines for playing money games with fellow southpaw Phil Mickelson and for his fast-food intake, among other topics.

Bhatia also has a promising career in front of him, as evidenced by the handful of PGA Tour sponsors exemptions he’s been granted and his win on the Korn Ferry Tour last year at the age of 19.

However’s this week’s stop, the Wichita Open in Wichita, Kan., carried with it a deflating dose of humility for Bhatia, who is not yet of legal age to rent a car in the state. So instead, he and his girlfriend, Presleigh Schultz, rented a U-Haul, packed it with his golf gear and hit the road.

Schultz shared some photos of their adventure on her Instagram story, and Monday Q Info tweeted them out on Wednesday. You can see the post below:
