Some holes-in-one are more special than others. Take for example Brad Shilton’s ace during the first round of the Australian Open this year.
While the odds of a professional golfer hitting a hole-in-one are dramatically smaller (2,500-to-1) than the average club golfer (12,500-to-1), professional aces often come with a pretty nice prize attached.

On Thursday at The Australian Golf Club outside of Sydney, the journeyman Shilton entered the par-3 11th hole at even par for his round and the event. One good swing from 188 yards and he jumped up the leaderboard to 2-under par. What’s more is that the ace came on the official Tag Heuer hole, which earned the Kiwi a watch valued at over $16,000.
Not a bad takeaway.
Shilton would go on to shoot an opening-round 78 and a second-round 80 left him on the outside of the cut line looking in. However, the new watch was a nice consolation.
