Phil Approves Of Li’s Sun-Protecting Look

Phil Mickelson has been a lot of things for a lot of years on the PGA Tour, but recently he’s become somewhat of a fashion icon.

Between his endorsement deal with Mizzen+Main to wear their performance button-down shirts on the course and his growing internet celebrity that’s come about in part from his flip-flop wearing, calf-showing wardrobe, Mickelson has become a go-to-guy for on-the-course fashion.

Included in Mickelson’s new role as PGA Tour fashion ambassador, the five-time major champion is letting his fellow players know when they’ve hit something that may be a little unconventional, but works.

Seeing China’s Haotong Li on the range ahead of this week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play wearing a unique hat, Phil offered his approval.

“You’re crushing that hat, man. It looks good on you!” Mickelson said.

“It saves on sunscreen,” Li responded.

“It’s hard to pull off, but you’re doing it,” Mickelson said.

Maybe it’s only a matter of time before we see Phil ditch the typical hat or visor in favor of the more sun-protective bucket hat?
