As the United States prepares to enter into another month largely consisting of stay-at-home and shelter-in-place orders, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are working behind the scenes to come up with a way they can provide some entertainment in the form of another one-on-one match, according to Mickelson.
Mickelson has been largely absent on social media during the first few weeks of quarantine, but on Sunday evening he sent a jolt through the golf world with two responses to fans.
One desperate sports-starved fan tweeted to Mickelson and Tiger Woods asking about the potential for a health-conscious rematch of their November 2018 made-for-TV match. Mickelson responded with a simple three-word reply that got the hype machine rolling.

Pressed slightly to “not tease,” Mickelson assured fans that he’s not one to do so.

With the PGA Tour in a standstill until at least until the middle of May currently — and most likely longer — sports leagues and outfits are doing everything they can to figure out a smart and safe way that they can televise some live sports.
Mickelson’s two-tweet harbinger has already fueled some speculation from various golf journalists reaching out and weighing in.
“Hearing Tiger v Phil II might indeed be happening as a (pay-per-view) event but that the caveat is that each will have a partner,” ex-Fox Sports writer Robert Lusetich wrote. “Two names being mentioned? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.”
ESPN.com’s Bob Harig reached out to management for both Woods and Mickelson. While Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, was unavailable for comment, Mickelson’s agent, Steve Loy, responded that “there are a lot of moving parts,” but wouldn’t comment on the planning of another match.
