When Phil Mickelson isn’t dazzling us with 64-degree flop shots or pulling the pin from 70 yards out, he’s trying to expand his Arizona golf course empire. On Tuesday, it was reported that Phil and a small group of business associates are in the process of purchasing the 27-hole Ocotillo Golf Club located in Chandler, Arizona.
The Arizona Republic has the story:
A group led by pro golfer Phil Mickelson is buying Chandler’s Ocotillo Golf Club with its 27 holes surrounded by man-made lakes.
Mickelson is purchasing the links with his long-time coach and agent Steve Loy, his brother, former ASU golf coach Tim Mickelson, and well-known Valley developer Spike Lawrence.
“This will be our eighth course in Arizona,” said Loy, who was Mickelson’s coach at ASU. “We are hoping to close on Ocotillo very soon. It’s a great course, and it will be an honor to own it.”

Mickelson and his associates already have six courses in their stable which are part of the Mickelson Private Golf Corporate Membership. Presumably, Ocotillo Golf Club will be the seventh course added to a list that already includes Rim Golf Club and the Golf Club at Chaparral Pines, both in Payson, McDowell Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, and two courses at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear.
Mickelson Private Golf Membership is limited to 50 members who receive 200 certificates for rounds of golf annually, to be used any way the member sees fit, at any of the courses in their portfolio.
