Snedeker Takes Jab At Bubba Following Win

Winning on the PGA Tour is a big deal, and it’s an accomplishment that doesn’t come around all too often for the majority of the players on the circuit. So shortly after Brandt Snedeker won the Wyndham Championship, his ninth win on Tour and for the first time since 2016, you could forgive him for being a little emotional.

You could also forgive him for taking the opportunity to needle a good friend in the process.

“I guess I’m turning into Bubba Watson, wanting to cry every two seconds,” Snedeker said. “To do it here, to shoot 59 on Thursday, to be in the lead all week, to deal with that pressure every night, to be able to step up to the plate today and shoot 65 when I had to means the world to me.”

Snedeker returned from a nagging sternum injury that at times made it painful to breathe after a five-month layoff. Due in part to the injury, Snedekers world and FedEx Cup rankings slipped and he missed out on playing at Augusta National in the first major championship of the year for the first time since 2010.

Some good form returned this summer, however, and Snedeker had posted three top-10 finishes since June to move from the 125 bubble all the way up to 30th with his win at the Wyndham. He enters this week’s first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs playing as well as he has in years. He won the final series in 2012.

“I’m a lot stronger than I thought I was,” Snedeker said. “I’ve still got a lot of great golf in me. I’m excited about the FedEx Cup Playoffs. I’ve done this before, I’ve won that thing, and I can’t wait to try to make a run to Atlanta in the playoffs because I’m playing great.”
