Spieth’s Nightmare Four-Putt, Holmes Gets Dirty

Friday at the Hero World Challenge seemed to belong to Tiger. At least, that’s what all the headlines read after his sparkling 7-under 65 to climb back into the mix.

Surprisingly, there are some other decent players in the field, but even the best in the world occasionally will succumb to golf’s beautiful wrath.

One such man happens to be arguably one of the best putters in the game today. Jordan Spieth was sitting at -9 when he left himself 30 feet for birdie on the 18th hole. After lagging one up there to 4 feet, he missed the next one for par. But wait, that’s not all. He then missed the comebacker and finally tapped in for a four-putt double-bogey, which dropped him into a tie for seventh.

Then, there was this from J.B. Holmes. After dumping a shot in the hazard, he decided the risk was worth the reward to play it from the drink, so he gave it a go. Words don’t even do it justice:

Golf is a humbling game to say the least!
