The 13 Golfers Who Have Shot 59 (or 58!) On The PGA Tour
Golf’s magic number doesn’t seem so magical lately.
On Thursday, Hayden Springer posted the 14th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history Thursday, joining a rapidly expanding list with an eagle-birdie finish in the John Deere Classic for a 12-under 59.
Thirteen of the Tour’s sub-60 rounds have been 59s, and Jim Furyk has the only 58 on the PGA Tour. Furyk is also one of the players to record a 59.
So who else has achieved golf greatness and fired a sub-60 round in competition? Let’s find out.
Al Geiberger (59) – 2nd Round, 1977 Memphis Classic.
One eagle, 11 birdies. Began on back nine, made an 8-foot birdie putt on the ninth hole.
Chip Beck (59) – 3rd Round, 1991 Las Vegas Invitational.
Thirteen birdies. Began on back nine. Birdied his last three holes, including a 3-footer on the ninth hole.
David Duval (59) – Final Round, 1999 Bob Hope Invitational.
One eagle, 11 birdies. Made 6-foot eagle on 18th hole. Won by a stroke.
Paul Goydos (59) – 1st Round, 2010 John Deere Classic.
Twelve birdies. Made 7-foot putt birdie putt on the 18th hole.
Stuart Appleby (59) – Final Round, 2010 Greenbrier Classic.
One eagle, nine birdies. Made 11-foot birdie putt on the 18th to win by one
Jim Furyk (59) – 2nd Round, 2013 BMW Championship.
One eagle, 11 birdies, one bogey. Made a 3-foot, 3-inch birdie putt on the ninth hole.
Jim Furyk (58) – Final Round, 2016 Travelers Championship.
One eagle, 10 birdies. Hole-out eagle on the par-4 third hole. Made seven consecutive birdies on Nos. 6-12.
Justin Thomas (59) – 1st Round, 2017 Sony Open.
Two eagles, eight birdies, one bogey. Made a 14-foot, 11-inch eagle putt on the ninth hole. Won by seven strokes.
Adam Hadwin (59) – 3rd Round, 2017 CareerBuilder Challenge.
Thirteen birdies. Made six consecutive birdies on the front nine and five straight on the back nine. Made a 4-foot par putt on the 18th hole.
Brandt Snedeker (59) – 1st Round, 2018 Wyndham Championship.
Ten birdies, one eagle, one bogey. Started on back nine. Only the third time in Tour history a player has shot a sub-60 score with a bogey.
Kevin Chappell (59) – 2nd Round, 2019 Military Tribute at Greenbrier.
Tied the PGA Tour record with nine consecutive birdies after starting the day with a par on No. 10. Made 11 birdies in total and didn’t card a bogey.
Scottie Scheffler (59) – 2nd Round, 2020 The Northern Trust.
Had six birdies on both sides to become the second player to card a 59 in the FedExCup Playoffs.
Cameron Young (59) – 3rd Round, 2024 Travelers Championship.
Two eagles, including a 142-yard eagle hole-out, with 9-foot par putt on 18th to seal the deal.
Hayden Springer (59) – 1st Round, 2024 John Deere Classic.
Holed out from 55 yards on No. 17 to give himself a chance, then buried a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole.
