Thomas Hits Cold Shank, Gets Up And Down

Justin Thomas was cruising along through two and a half rounds at The Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club until he got to the par-4 ninth fairway on Sunday morning.

At 4-under par for the round, JT piped a drive 287 yards down the middle of the fairway and was in position to make another birdie.

However, the hosel of his short iron caught his Titleist golf ball flush and sent it caroming in the wrong direction. Thomas dropped the club at impact and couldn’t do anything else but laugh.

“Haven’t done that in a while,” he said as the ball came to rest in a chipping area off to the side of the 9th fairway.

JT composed himself, and from 54 yards, he stuck his second approach to inside four feet.

Thomas would go on to shoot 6-under par 65 in the third round before a poor final round that saw him lose to J.B. Holmes by one stroke.
