Tiger And LaCava Reflect On Relationship

Tiger Woods and Joe LaCava have been working together for eight years and nine PGA Tour victories, but their relationship goes well beyond the boss-employee dynamic that defines their day jobs.

Through Tiger’s new agreement with Discovery’s GOLFTV, fans are getting a behind-the-scenes look at certain aspects of Woods’ on and off-course life.

Although the streaming platform, which is meant to be the international answer to PGA Tour Live, is not available in the United States, GOLFTV has begun sharing some of their Tiger-related content on their social media channels.

Their biggest hit so far was a simple question-and-answer session with Woods and his bagman, LaCava. The two rapped on everything from LaCava’s best caddie trait (“is there a best?”) to their personal relationship to their working relationship.

While the entire video was a nice peek behind the curtain the undoubted highlight comes with the very last question. Asked what Woods thought when he heard LaCava’s flattering remark in the recent ESPN documentary Return of the Roar, Woods couldn’t help but chide his buddy.

“If I could live another hundred years, I’d wait another hundred years,” LaCava said in the documentary. “I was never not going to work for Tiger as long as he was going to have me. I just wanted to work for him and no one else. And I think that helped him a little bit, knowing that he had a friend that thought that much of him, as a person and with his game.”

Tiger’s response?

“Pretty romantic.”
