Tiger Woods hadn’t picked up a golf club since his final-round 3-under par 69 at the Masters on April 8. He mentioned following his Sunday round that he likes to put the clubs away for a while after the first major of the season, and he held true to that promise until Tuesday at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri.
Woods was on hand at the Ozark Mountain Resort for a tour with resort owner Johnny Morris of the Payne’s Valley course that Woods’ firm built for the resort, which is tentatively scheduled to open in 2019, as well as to put on a clinic for juniors and their parents in the area.

Big Cedar Lodge is hosting this week’s PGA Tour Champions event, the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf this weekend.
“This is going to be the first golf ball I’ve hit since Augusta,” Woods said “So please excuse me being a little bit slow and rusty.”
Woods gave a 30-minute clinic that featured a bevy of shot types as well as a Q&A.
“How do you stay calm mentally when you’re losing?” one clinic-goer asked, which Woods repeated to laughter from the crowd.
“I don’t,” Woods deadpanned. “I fight, I grind it out. I try on each and every shot. I don’t understand what it’s like to fail, to quit. I fight for every shot I have out there. I want to shoot the lowest score I possibly can. Sometimes that’s a good day, sometimes that’s a bad day, but I’ve always believed you can’t turn the switch off and on while you play; it’s always got to be on.”
Woods hasn’t announced when or where his next start on the PGA Tour will be, although with the Players Championship right around the bend and the popular Wells Fargo Championship taking place the week prior, it’s a good bet that Woods will be back in action in two weeks in Charlotte.
